| eBay #11007615200 1980 Nissan Skyline GT ES Turbo. Number of Bids: 10. 19 photos. Location: Salem, Oregon. Older black paint, grey cloth interior. A very cool a rare car. Turbo 6-cylinder, aftermarket Longchamps XR4 wheels which would look better if their were 1” bigger in diameter. Claimed to be 78k original miles, 1 owner, with everything working including factory AC. According to seller, car has minor surface rust in bottom of doors and could use fresh paint. Engine bay looks “used car” dirty, and interior wear looks to be consistent with stated mileage. NOT SOLD AT: $4,550. BUY IT NOW PRICE: $9,000. Date: 1/12/07. An awesome car. However, JDM cars of this era are a tough sell in the U.S unless you live in a liberal county in a place like Salem, Oregon, where a car like this can be legally titled/registered. For a California buyer, getting this thing legally licensed for the road would be a huge pain, and it’s not worth much as a static display piece. Unless you’ve got a big living room and a fetish for 80s cars. The money offered was a bit low. I don’t think this one is worth more than 6 or 7 thousand in real dollars at the present time. |

eBay #150076286205 Considering what some FJ40s are going for these days, this Patrol can be considered well-bought, if not a relative bargain. The Patrol is much more scarce (and less well-known) than the Landcruisers, and the black plates really gave this one some appeal. Look for Patrols to appreciate in the coming years. |

eBay #200064760431 This 510 wasn’t for everyone, with its huge wheels and box flares. Normally I’m not a fan of this look myself. But this car was cleanly done and had just the right flavor. Offered locally at $5500 before it appeared on eBay, I’m kicking myself now that I didn’t go after this one. Well bought and well sold, this car is likely to appreciate. |

| eBay #150079558232 1971 Honda Z600. Number of bids: 22. 19 photos. Location: Chadron, Nebraska. Mileage: 72,305. Looks to be an honest used car. “10-footer” respray in the (presumably original) green. Definitely will stand out. Solid body is attested to by many photos showing undercarriage, door sills, etc... Seller describes minor rust bubbles under paint in the left rear quarter panel to be expected as rust-proofing wasn’t Honda’s greatest forte in the early 70s. Crack in dash, bad window trip and rotted weatherstripping will be needed before you take it to the local concours. SOLD AT: $2,650.00. DATE: 1/14/07. 600s (of any make) are pretty useless cars in modern day America, with their pitifully small engine capacity. It takes an adventurous soul to navigate modern freeways in the tiny Z600. However, other micro cars are hot people are bringing in beater Fiat 600s from Italy by the boatload. The Honda should be much more sturdy perfect for parades or a trip to the local coffee shop. This car should have brought $1000 more. |

| eBay #300068916121 1993 Mazda RX-7. Number of bids: 10. 7 photos. Location: Lynbrook, NY. Mileage: 31,152. Silver/black. Manual. Has aftermarket intercooler, radiator, boost controller, and more. Great looking engine compartment, very clean. Also has an aftermarket Pioneer TV/DVD/navigation system. The twin-turbo ‘FD’ RX-7 remains one of my favorite sports cars ever. They are not known for their reliability, and most have 100k+ miles. This low-mileage car looked very nice but with only seven photos, I’m sure it left some bidders wondering. After all, any used modified turbo car (especially a rotary) is something to be wary of. NOT SOLD AT: $15,100.00. DATE: 1/16/07. Is it just me, or is it odd that sellers of cars like this one feel compelled to include the clause “never raced”, as this seller did? With the rather skimpy ad text and the even less conclusive photos, the high bid should have been accepted. |

| eBay #300068758353 1988 Nissan 300ZX Turbo. Number of bids: 42. 35 photos. Location: Newport News, VA. Mileage: 9,599. Silver/black. Manual. At the time, these all-white turbo Z’s with factory Recaro seats were one of the baddest new cars on the street. That was then, this is now. This was still an exceptional example, presented beautifully and with lots of photos. NOT SOLD AT: $21,101.00. DATE: 1/16/07. Honestly, I’m surprised the seller refused this money. How much do they think it’s worth? And what are you going to do with it if you buy it? Drive it past the 10k mark, and potentially destroy the value, or put it on a pedestal and look at it? Don’t get me wrong, this was a great example... but can it go much higher? |

| eBay #270075190847 1972 Mazda RX2 Sedan. Number of Bids: 16. 1 photo. Location: Schererville, IN. Mileage: unknown. 4-door RX2 apparently sitting for five years after a paint job and an engine rebuild. Long list of mods common to early rotary cars. Suspension and steering overhauled, no cracks in dash. SOLD AT: $5,100. DATE: 1/8/07. Given the fact that this was a 4-door, and it was all the way up in Indiana, with only one photo included in the listing, this seems to be a strong result to me. What’s a good 2-door in California worth? |

| *GREAT BUY* eBay #220067427977 1981 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. Number of Bids: 32. 10 photos. Location: Birmingham, AL. Mileage: 124,500. Red/white. Automatic. An honest-looking used car. Claimed full service history, new brakes, and minor “rust spots”. A/C and cruise control reportedly don’t work. Other than that, I’m confident I could have bought this car and driven it home to California. SOLD AT: $961.00. DATE: 1/8/07. Old Celicas are starting to command real collector attention, and they are starting to show up in the vintage car magazines. Prices are creeping up, and while most collectors are looking for the earlier 1971-1974 cars, the later GTs can’t stay this cheap forever. Well bought, especially if the new owner intends to drive it. |

| eBay #270076067933 1985 Toyota MR2. Number of bids: 9. 12 photos. Location: Bradenton, FL. Mileage: 115,937. White/black. Manual. 1st-gen MR2s, which used to be a common site on American streets, seem to have gone the way of Herbie the Love Bug. You just don’t see ‘em anymore. This one was just the car for you if you wanted a preserved, unmessed with first-year MR2. On top of that, this was a non-sunroof hardtop car, hard to find in any condition. Seller states car has a small dent in passenger door and might need a shock replaced. SOLD AT: $2,900.00 with Buy it Now. DATE: 1/6/07. I was attracted to this car initially because of its great paint and graphics scheme. You don’t see factory white cars often and the factory graphics package is rare (the MR2 I had back in high school had this). If this car had been closer to my half of the country, I might have been a player. Great buy |
